Academic Forum - Academic Leaders in Nursing Informatics

The purpose of the Community of Academic Leaders in Nursing Informatics (ALNI) is to provide leadership to establish and maintain high standards of excellence in nursing informatics programs. ALNI will provide a forum for nursing informatics programs, aspiring nursing informatics programs, and other interested parties to exchange information and ideas to support these purposes. The goals of ALNI are to:

  • Lead programs that will facilitate the continued development and enhancement of the quality of instruction of nursing informatics programs;
  • Improve the communications between the faculty of nursing informatics programs, create opportunities for nursing informatics programs to share their experiences, and learn from each other and outside experts about best practices in nursing informatics education;
  • Make recommendations concerning content and management of nursing informatics education and certification to the ANCC;
  • Provide support for activities that encourage lifelong learning of graduates of these nursing informatics programs;
  • Provide oversight and inform ANCC as doctoral level certification for nurse informaticians is formalized;
  • Provide oversight and inform CAHIIM related to nursing informatics programs that seek CAHIIM accreditation; and
  • Inform and support AMIA certification efforts so that nurses may be represented with other informatics professions in the workforce.
