This working group is the evolution and collaboration formed between the People and Organizational Issues Working Group (POI-WG) and the Evaluations Working Group (EVAL-WG).
The mission of the People and Organizational Issues-Evaluation (POI-Eval) Working Group is to study the interactions between people and technology, including designing, implementing, evaluating, and optimizing safe and usable health information systems and technology. The POI-Eval WG provides a forum for the discussion, exploration, and sharing of expertise and work surrounding effective implementation and evaluation of the impact of all types of informatics interventions. The group encourages the grounding of informatics evaluation in relevant theories and frameworks, drawing on disciplines such as public health; psychology and behavioral sciences; anthropology, sociology, and other social sciences; computer, information, and data sciences; human factors engineering; systems and implementation sciences; and health services research. Topics that members of POI-Eval find of interest include, but are not limited to, patient engagement and safety, workflow, collaborative work and teamwork, decision-making, project and change management, technology adoption, diffusion of innovations, unintended consequences, and user experience and usability. Members employ the gamut of qualitative and quantitative methods in their work.
