The Implementation and Optimization Community represents over 1,100 AMIA members from four working groups (CIS, ELSI, EVAL and POI) who are interested in HIT implementation and optimization. The lively discussion incorporates insights, opinions and dialog. We discuss: vendor-provider relationships, IS dept-clinician relationships, workflow, upgrades, requests for (and reality of) repairs and customization, feedback to CMIOs and implementation teams, the need for constant work to keep up with changes both to the core systems and to the many IT systems with which they must interact, the role of HIT in improving care and in improving coordination of care. We also discuss regulations, usability, errors, responsibility, training and many, many other topics.
